This book is about Claudia and James, brother and sister, who decide… well Claudia decides and James is invited, to run away from home to live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Initially her reason is so when she comes back home a few days later she will be treated differently. But they soon discover a small angel statue that is on display that draws hundreds of people every day. Claudia becomes obsessed with the statue and wants to find out if it is indeed one of Michelangelo’s lost pieces.
This book is so wonderfully, timelessly written! Of course today’s security systems would make living in the museum impossible. But things like that don’t occur to you while you’re reading it.
There’s really no one part that stands out more than the others. As Jamie and Claudia point out to each other near the end, they had both changed a lot since the beginning of their journey. I just hope they were able to hold on to that after returning home.
