Evolving Oatmeal

For most of my life, I always made my oatmeal one way: quick oats, brown sugar, sometimes raisins, cinnamon, and milk. But over the past year it’s been evolving and changing. First I started getting organic quick oats and organic raisins from the bulk bins at Whole Foods. I also started using organic cinnamon and turbindano sugar. I also used a lot less sugar. Then I started using hemp milk instead of cow’s milk. Then I switched over to rolled oats. I was pretty proud of myself.

But now I think it’s reached it’s green perfection. I now no longer use sugar at all! I’m using local clover honey instead of the sugar and it tastes great. I can’t believe how much my oatmeal has changed since I was young, but it’s so much better tasting and better for me now. Hopefully I can figure out how to use the honey to sweeten things instead of sugar and have one less processed food item in the kitchen!

      1. I can attest–steel cut outs taste amazing! Nutty with great texture–they take a while to cook, but make a big batch and stick it in the fridge and you’re set for the week. You may never go back 🙂
