It’s that time of year again! Dragon*Con officially starts on Friday, but unofficially it starts on Thursday. I can’t wait! I’ve got my costumes ready to go (finally!). Food and other supplies are ready to go. And we get to see our friends again! It’s the five days of the year we get to see them. I’m going to work on chatting online with them more often during the rest of the year because five days isn’t enough time!
This year is going to be even more awesome than usual. First off, there’s going to be another attempt to break the world record for having the most amount of people in Star Trek uniforms/costumes in one place, and we’re going to be a part of it! Hubby and I have Anovos uniforms (aka official, authentic replicas) and are going to break them out early just for this. We were going to hold on to them until 2016 for the 50th anniversary, but this is important! I’m just not going to accessorize this time to make 2016 that much more awesome.
That leads me to the main thing that makes this year awesome.
The 50th anniversary of the longest running sci-fi TV show! I am so excited! Aside from getting to enjoy being around my fellow Who-vians all weekend, there are two (yes two!) Doctors attending this year! Sylvester McCoy is back for his third con in a row and Peter Davison is joining him! Five and Seven!! Squee!!! There are also going to be three companions: Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke), and Sergeant Benton (John Levene)!
And now the weekend is going to be EPIC! Our “little” group, Prydon Academy, always march in the parade. This year members have been hard at work to create an awesome float for us that looks like the inside of one of the Classic series TARDIS. Yesterday it was announced that we’re going to have a guest on the float. Sylvester McCoy! The Seventh Doctor is going to be on our float! SQUEEE!!! I can’t wait!
